An emotional reaction to a threat or any appearance or perception of danger can be referred to as fear. If an individual believes that they are in danger, they may experience fear in some magnitude. Apart from experiencing fear due to pain or danger, others may even undergo a fear of being alone. Some people have a more intense experience than others, you'll know if you're one of those unfortunate people.

People always craving the attention and the company of others could be said to be suffering from the fear of being alone. They will feel extremely comfortable when they are at social events or when they are surrounded by a number of persons, feeding their desire for the need of appreciation and attention.

Monophobia is another term for this disorder, which causes a number of uncomfortable panic attacks. In addition, these persons may also feel tormented, if their friends mock and ridicule them. Some of their friends may even create situations where they are placed in solitude. This can prove to be harmful for the person suffering with the condition, as the symptoms of the condition can be disturbing.

Low self esteem and low confidence accompanies this condition. Additionally, these persons will experience several abnormalities, when they believe that they are in solitude. For example, abnormal symptoms like nausea, sickness, dry mouth and they will be sweaty. Another symptom is that the heart beat will go faster, which will lead to respiratory problems and temporary speech impediments. Violent attacks of shaking and the lost of psyche are other symptoms that come with monophobia.

Drugs and medication are useful options in treating persons who suffer with the fear of being alone; however most medication will come with serious side effects. Moreover, there is no guarantee that these drugs will be effective in curing the disease. And, of course, not everyone believes that masking the symptoms with medication is the best option anyway.

One can also consider treating this emotional illness by using self-help NLP methods, as these methods will train and prepare phobic persons how to value the significance of being in their own space.
