Said to be the longest running contemporary art fair in Asia, ARTSingapore is a platform for Asian artists, art lovers and buyers to come together to exchange ideas, exhibit art work, purchase them and discover new artists. This fair, generally held in late September to early October each year in Suntec City is the premier event in the region to promote contemporary art and sculpture to an increasingly sophisticated market. The fair is one of the places that galleries, dealers and art lovers can find museum quality pieces and this is also the place that leading art galleries launch the works of young artists. Visitors are indeed lucky to find exceptional pieces of work and new works both in one location. Fifty exhibitors from 10 countries showcased the works of some 500 artists at the 2010 event. The growing influence of the event was shown by the increase in the numbers of art and antique professionals, cultural foundations, craftsmen, artisans, promoters, and art lovers who visited last years fair undoubtedly looking for material to satisfy the rising demand for original works. The event provided a launch pad for several of the galleries that exhibited there and young artists found the necessary exposure and probably sponsors.
