Contact Lenses And Summer Are A Perfect Fit

Contact Lenses And Summer Are A Perfect Fit

By:

As the year heats up and those sunny days arrive once again, people everywhere are reminded of why contact lenses and summer continue to be two great things that always seem to go well together. For active people whom want to get the most out of their summertime fun, there is no arguing with the fact that contacts provide greater freedom than glasses, while enabling the average wearer to get even more enjoyment out of those outdoor activities.

The difference

The difference between contacts and traditional eye wear are obvious. While the former rest easily and comfortably upon the eyes, glasses rest upon the nose and leave a space between the eyes and the outside world. This space causes glare, visual distortions, and other problems that cause people to see less than perfectly when wearing their corrective glasses.

With contacts, that space is completely removed. Moreover, the lack of peripheral vision that is often experienced by those who wear glasses is dramatically reduced through the use of contacts. Of course, these are but a few of the many reasons why contacts seem to be a better fit for summertime wear. Most of the other reasons are directly related to the nature of warm weather activities.

The needs of the season

Let's face it: summers are a lot different than the other three seasons. With nearly constant warm weather and the children freed from the normal school routine, families tend to spend a great deal of time outdoors. Whether that time involves a trip to the lake or a visit to the local pool, water tends to play a pivotal role in many events.

For people who wear glasses, time spent in the water can be a bit of a bother. When the glasses come off, the vision tends to blur and it becomes difficult to have a good time and still enjoy the scenery. Contacts alleviate this common problem, and enable those with vision impairments to fully experience the joys of the water. And while there are recommendations against wearing them while swimming, the fact is that most people have no problem swimming with their contacts in as long as their eyes are shut when they are underwater.

Shades make the grade

And then there is the issue of sunglasses. A smart looking pair of sunglasses can often be the most critical accessory for any summertime outfit. For people in glasses, that generally leaves only one option: some type of clip-on shaded covering to guard against the sun's rays. There are few attractive options when it comes to these types of accessories.

When wearing contacts, however, the full spectrum of shaded lens choices suddenly becomes available. That makes it a far simpler matter to shop for and purchase the perfect pair of sunglasses to wear on those sunny days. Many who wear contacts in the summer do so for precisely this reason.

There is no doubt that contacts should be a serious consideration for anyone who wants to be free from the summer time limitations imposed by traditional glasses. Short of corrective surgery to remove the need for any type of lens, it is likely that many people will continue to view contact lenses and summer time fun as two concepts that belong together.
