Construction Insurance Needs To Reflect The Issue

By:

There have been an increasing amount of stress-related injuries in the workplace over the past decade. The sector that handles Insurance for Contractors finds this to hold true for them as well.

Although stress-related injuries probably began around almost since the dawn of civilization, it seems that the ones happening today take on more acute relevance, due to the issue of Construction Insurance.

By now, most everyone has heard about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. However most people continue to associate this with time served in the army or navy, where it is most predominant. But what about the levels of stress seen in the work-a-day world?

Stress-related issues have found their way into every sector, including construction. So when it is time to invest in Construction Insurance, how are you to deal with this common issue?

Increasing demands on workers have been created by the economic downturn. Most people are now expected to work longer hours for the same (or in some cases, even less) pay. The companies that handle Insurance for Contractors need to take a hard look at the issue. Increased demands, staff shortages, a more for less mentality, and insufficient training caused by fiscal cutbacks are stretching the minds and bodies of todays construction workers and Contractors.

There have been many cases where an injured worker may seek to file a stress claim; however, whether or not the Construction Insurance companies accept the claim is another question altogether. There may be questions around the lifestyle of the claimant or questions around the credibility of the Construction Insurance claimant.

These concerns stall any proceedings in the realm of Construction Insurance and that can only lead to more frustration, more upset, more money being spent. In short, these queries lead to more stress! And that can lead to more accidents and injuries while performing the job or working in the environment that triggered the stress in the first place.

The issue of stress at work is critical when it comes to Insurance for Contractors because there may be a need to get into the workplace and see just what it is that is creating such stressful circumstances. If this were to happen with Construction Insurance investigations, what would then happen to the claims process and the contents of policies providing Insurance for Contractors?

This food for thought does bring home the need for Construction Insurance to be in step with modern problems.

When is the last time you reviewed your Construction Insurance policy? When is the last time you reviewed the stress level of your employees? Perhaps it is time for a fresh assessment. Insurance for Contractors is about people and their well-being. Progressive Construction Insurance providers know that the body is much better equipped to deal with strains, to process potential toxins, and to be alert and agile while performing work when the mind is not stressed. The two go hand in hand.
