First, learn to set boundaries and say "no". If you know that your stress is caused from the fact that you seem to be pulled in several different directions during the day then you need to eliminate some of your obligations. Maybe you could run one fundraiser for your child's school this year rather than doing all of them. Maybe you can go shopping for groceries every two weeks rather than once a week. Make a list of what you need and purchase what you will need to get you through those two weeks so you are not constantly pulling into the store to pick something up. Just by doing these two things you are decreasing the amount of time that you are on the go. This will help decrease your stress.

Next, find time for yourself. You need to remember the activities that you enjoy and that make you, who you are. Find time to take a walk three times a week if you enjoy getting out. Schedule a dinner date with friends once a month so that you can be yourself and spend time with people you love. You will find that simply engaging in adult conversation may be a great way to decrease stress and help you get back to feeling human again. You may even want to treat yourself to a massage every now and then in order to work out some of those kinks in your muscles. This will also help you feel more relaxed.

Finally, learn some deep breathing exercises. You will find that they really do benefit you when you are feeling tired and stressed. If you engage in these breathing exercises when you start to feel overwhelmed you will be able to control your heart rate and learn to relax. Try taking a deep breath, holding it in while you count to eight and then letting it out slowly. Do this several times and focus on your breathing while you are doing the exercise. You will notice your heart rate decreases and you will be able to focus again calmly.

There are hundreds of different ways to conquer the stress that you are facing on a daily basis. You simply need to evaluate your stress and determine what the triggers are for you. Then, you can begin working towards decreasing them so that you are better able to relax and get through your day. Just remember that this is something that you will need to start on your own. You are the one who is in control.
