Conquer Shoulder Pain Without Surgery

Shoulder pain can be such a nag. It can affect every aspect of our lives. Work, sleep, recreation, sex life, and most importantly, training can be negatively affected. Usually the pain stems from rotator cuff issues, minor or major tears, or some form of inflammation. Surgery is not your only option, at least not yet. There is a new invention on the market that is literally curing people of their shoulder ailments!

Let me tell you how I stumbled upon this product. First I should give you a brief history on my own injuries. Ten years ago, I was just getting big into bodybuilding. I was in college at the time, about 20 years old. I was just starting to get 'jacked!' I was getting buff and strong in the gym, but I knew very little about muscle imbalances.

It all came crumbling down during a college recreational softball game. Yes, thats right. Not the glorious type of event that one might like to imagine. Anyway, I was up to bat. There were a couple of guys on base, and I was the clutch hitter on the team so I knew that everybody was looking to me to crush one out of there. Well, that I did! The ball was about 5 feet short of going over the fence! As I ran the bases, I noticed that my left arm wasnt doing what I wanted it to do. It was sort of just hanging there like a limp noodle. It had come right out of socket. I immediately went to the urgent care and they put it back into place and put me in a sling. Following that, I had an MRI that showed a completely detached labrum and some nice cartilage damage. I was told that surgery was the only fix and that I should start scheduling with surgeons, which I did. However, when they told me the 6-9 month prognosis, I was hesitant, to say the least. I knew a few guys who had had shoulder repair surgeries, and they all said 'dont do it! It will never be the same again!'

Well, I took their advice. After about 6 weeks in the sling, I slowly started exercising my left arm again. After about 6 months, I had most of my strength back, I had rehabilitated the muscles around it to sort of hold it into place. Then came my entrance to mixed martial arts.

I always protected my left arm. I carried it differently. It was strong, but my range of motion was always limited and it always felt 'weak' in the joint. I wouldnt dare risk getting arm barred with my left arm in Jiu Jitsu, and when boxing my arm would get sore often. It would radiate from my shoulder, right down my arm with a dull pain. My left trap was noticeably shorter as my shoulder was drawn in, so my neck was often sore. After about 5 years of this, it finally happened; I completely ruptured my C6-C7 disc in my neck and had to have immediate surgery. Recovery was brutal, and because of the nerve damage associated with it, I lost all the strength and muscle mass in the left side of my upper body. I'm still working at getting it back now. However, again I rehabilitated and never stopped fighting.

My introduction to the device that really saved me was a couple years after my neck surgery. My boxing coach had been suffering from neck and shoulder pain. It was so bad that he couldnt hold punch mitts anymore and was constantly stretching his neck or holding his shoulder. This was rare, my coach is like the toughest 58 year old dude Ive met. One evening he said that he had had enough and was going to see a doctor and have it looked at.

About two weeks later, I walked into the boxing gym and started warming up. I noticed my coach was holding mitts again for guys and he looked good. I told him to take it easy so that he didnt hurt his shoulder. He replied that his pain was gone! He had me check out the device that the doctor had given him that he felt completely healed him. He thought that with my shoulder and neck ailments that I should give this thing a try. I did, and it worked great! No longer did my shoulder ache after a few rounds on the heavy bag. Not only that, but I felt much stronger in my shoulder and was able to throw much better punches without hesitation.

I think that a lot of people have muscle imbalance but athletes, especially who participate in a lot of resistance training, seem to be at greater risk. They tend to work the deltoids and other muscles a lot, and the small things like the rotator cuff seem unimportant and get left out because they dont look good in the mirror. But there is a reason that a 300lb guy can military press the 140lb dumbbells with ease, only to reach for his gym bag later and tear his rotator cuff. Isnt the rotator cuff an important part of shoulder strength? Could having a stronger rotator cuff make your shoulder strength that much better? When I used it, I felt like it was great for my punching power and hand speed. I am definitely sold on this device.
