Conflicts Between Dating And Studies

Conflicts Between Dating And Studies

By:

Couples these days are getting younger and younger. Teenagers as young as 15 to 17 years old already go out on dates. The problem with this situation is that sometimes dating or having a girlfriend can cause troubles to their studies. Most parents discourage their children from accepting date invitations or entertaining suitors because of the danger it poses to their child's education. Student couples divide their attention between their studies and relationship and sometimes they can't handle it.

Here are some advice to the young couples on how to balance their relationship and studies.

Make a schedule. Time management is the primary solution to this problem. Schedule what days and time you're going to see your girlfriend or have a date and also make a plan on how you will study. For example, you plan to go out with your girlfriend every Friday night but you will study your lessons at least 2 hours every day after school. Or you can study a few hours everyday and be with your girlfriend on weekends. It's just a matter of balancing the time you've spent on your relationship and on your studies. Just make sure that you're focused n whatever you are doing. If you're going to study, just study. And if you want to have fun with your girlfriend, then just enjoy yourselves.

Let your parents know so that you won't have to go crawling out of your house when you have to see your girlfriend. They won't be probably too happy, but at least they know what's happening. Explain to them how you're going to manage your studies and relationship and promise them that you won't neglect your studies. All they need is the assurance that you won't fail your subjects.

Set up your goals. Know what you want to achieve and know when you want to achieve them. By setting up your goals, you will know whether you're still on the right track. You will also know your priorities.

Listen to other people's advice, especially if they are older than you. Most probably they've been through what you're experiencing right now and they can give you ideas on how you should handle it. They are the best source of advice because they've been through that situation.

And when you make a schedule, make sure that you follow it. You should know your limitations. If it is your schedule to study at that time, don't go calling up your girl and chat with her while studying. It defeats the purpose of your schedule.

Whatever happens, don't mix your studies with your relationship because these two aspects of your life both demand attention. You have to know how to separate them. If you don't know what to do or things get out of hand, ask for help. That's what parents are for. No matter what happens, you can always count on them.
