Competition And Personal Branding

By:

It's definitely not easy to try to stand out from the pack in this day and age. So many people are vying for the same "spot." When you are able to out there and start to comprehend exactly how any people there are that are looking for the very same work opportunities, the identical vocation, precisely the same chances that you are trying to find, it becomes quite humbling.

Personally i had a real epiphany on one occasion, watching a show on E! about the 20, 25, 50, or who knows what number of the greatest Latino beauties worldwide. This show included many international beauty pageant competitors, a variety of actresses, women from numerous areas of the entertainment and beauty contest worlds. To see many different women that I had never heard about, one after another, with really stunning physical features, was very sobering. We're not referring to just some pretty girls here. We're speaking about women that even a straight woman cannot stop staring at!! For me personally, this particular show certainly proved the reality that even beautiful women - not just pretty, but really amazing - ARE a dime a dozen.

Yet another reality I have also come to understand is just how often the most skilled and prosperous people in Hollywood, as well as sometimes in modeling, are NOT the most good-looking, or maybe even the most skilled. Yet it is definitely not only a matter of luck or of chance either. Certain character and personality traits are generally present in these types of men and women. These usually include: 1) Unusually intense attention to detail, 2) unusual determination and persistence, and 3) a marked comprehension of what will most interest the audience, the consumers, the persons to whom they may be "selling."

How Do I Get Noticed??

Some elementary rules are sure to assist you in finding your path to becoming more successful in competition as well as in branding yourself.

1) Kimora Lee Simmons's Truth #1. " There's no such thing as being discovered." It's called education AND perspiration, baby, so you better get hard at it. Be ready, ready for the possibilities as soon as they arise. Live by the Latin saying: Semper paratus. Always ready.

2) Kimora Lee Simmon's Truth #2. "The person with the most talent doesn't always get ahead." So we have previously seen.

3) Kimora Lee Simmon's Truth #3. "Life's a bitch sometimes." Sometimes luck just runs against you for a little bit. If you hang in there, your day WILL come. It's called character building. Everyone has to go through it, sooner or later.

4) Arabian proverb: "Compete, don't envy." Jealousy is a big waste. Instead, you need to be examining the particulars of WHY so-and-so is constantly passing you by. Then gain knowledge from their achievements and discover the ways in which you can achieve everything they are accomplishing, and then some.

5) Create your personal style, and be thorough about it. It's extremely important to become wise about what the # 1 people in your industry or field are accomplishing and have achieved in the past. Very crucial. But then it is time for you to look closely at precisely what you personally find yourself interested in, and to use your own personal likes to stand out and create name for your self. You can still proceed with caution. Stand out a small amount, feel your way along, see just what the general reaction is. Then see about pushing the boundaries just a little bit more. You'll gain a sense for what is effective, what is too little to set you apart, and exactly what is excessive.
