Compatibles: The Perfect Way To Buying Cheap Ink Cartridges

There is a computer in most modern British households, from high-spec gaming PCs to compact laptops, and the inkjet printer is one of the most ubiquitous accessories for them. Having a printer is the best way to get what we create on the screen into our hands, be it a business document, some photographs from a night out or a piece of digital art, but many of us are reluctant to print as much as we would like to due to the concerns about the cost of the cartridges.

As recently as several years ago, it wasn't uncommon to see perfectly good printers being thrown out and replaced as the ink cost considerably more than a new printer, with the only option to replace the cartridges being purchasing 'official' ones direct from the manufacturer or licensed chain stores, meaning that they were often prohibitively expensive. Though the price of 'official' ink has had to decrease in the wake of cheaper printers, they can still be fairly costly, but there are now options making it possible to acquire cheap ink cartridges rather than replacing the whole printer.

The simplest way to cheap ink cartridges is to purchase compatible units: these are exactly what their name suggests - they are cartridges which will work just fine with your printer, but won't have the manufacturer's branding on them, meaning that they will often cost far less than the official ones. These compatibles can be broken down into a further subset called remanufactured, whereby original cartridges have been recycled, cleaned and refilled, sometimes giving as much as three times the page yield as it is often the case that original cartridges are not filled to capacity.

Whether choosing unbranded compatibles or remanufactured units, these are the ideal way to acquiring cheap ink cartridges. Many users have reported that compatible cartridges have both lasted longer and also provided a higher quality of print than the officially branded units, though this will obviously depend on where the compatibles are purchased from - a supermarket branded cartridge isn't likely to be filled with as high quality ink as a remanufactured unit from a dedicated printer ink store, for example.

Even if choosing to stick with regular name branded cartridges, the days of purchasing a new printer instead of replacing the ink are thankfully behind us, but there are still many options to ensure that purchasing cheap ink cartridges is easier and more finance-friendly than ever before and compatible units are just one way to achieve this.
