Two smartphones that are quite similar at first glance that may be hard to decide which one you would like to purchase are the Palm Pre with HP WebOS and the Windows Phone 7. This article will look at these two and point out any key differences that may help one their buying decision when it comes time to making the final purchase.

The new WebOS which many people may remember as being Palm, is now wearing the HP (Hewlett Packard) label and is attempting to take the market by storm. On the other hand we also have the new Windows Phone 7, with Microsoft running an aggressive advertising campaign to try and carve out their own piece of the market.

The Windows Phone 7 offers the ability for people to be able to use the Microsoft features that people tend to use daily, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel right from the phone. You even have the ability to be able to edit the Microsoft Office documents from your smartphone. This is something that is definitely a valuable thing for office professionals that cannot always be at their desk but yet have work to do. This is something that the HP WebOS does not offer, so business professional who need the ability to edit documents on the go may decide the windows phone is better suited for them.

The WebOS does offer something pretty unique that the Windows Phone 7 and many other phones do not. That is something called over the air software. This software also known as OTA, is able to provide updates to the latest software released by WebOS and is completely effortless. There is no need to download or installe new software, as it is all done on a streaming data. This is also very useful for backing up one's data and if your phone ever gets lost or stolen. You can somply log in remotely and erase all your personal data. So if your phone happens to fall into the wrong hands, no worries about someone getting your personal information just log in and erase all your data. Don't worry since your data is backed up every day, it can easily be restored.
Both of these smartphones have the social networking applications that are becoming more and more popular.

So if you can't live without checking your Facebook account every 10 minutes then either one of these phones will do the trick. It will come down to a matter of personal opinion for these two phones and no matter what choice you make, the choice will be a good one.
