Do you need a pay as you go cell phone rate plan but you are not confident about what the best option is? In this article I will compare prepaid cell phone plans, which should help you make a better selection. You will obtain information on the available cell phone brands, national calling costs per minute, the range of available airtime cards, and texting costs.

T-Mobile - Pay As You Go

T-Mobile sells prepaid phone kits that include 10 minutes starter airtime. T-Mobile prepaid phones include Nokia, Motorola and Samsung models.

Calling costs per minute range from $0.10 to $0.33/minute depending on the refill denomination you buy. The more credit you purchase, the lower the price for each minute. Available refills are $10 for 30 minutes, $25 for 130 minutes, $50 for 400 minutes and $100 for 1000 minutes. The T-Mobile prepaid plans include local and national long distance calls and national roaming on the T-Mobile network. Sending a text message (SMS) costs $0.10, receiving a text message costs $0.05.

Net10

Net10's prepaid mobile phone range includes approximately 20 phones mainly LG and Motorola models and some Kyocera and Nokia models.

Calling cost per minute is always $0.10 for local and long distance calls and national roaming. Sending or receiving text messages only costs $0.05 per message. Available airtime calling cards: 200, 300, 450, 600, 1000, 2000, 4000 minutes. Since national minutes always cost $0.10 it is easy to calculate that 200 minutes of airtime will cost you $20 and a 4000 minute card costs $400. If you still have active service at the end of the month any remaining minutes will carry over to the next month.

AT&T GoPhone - Pay As You Go

AT&T's prepaid cell phone range includes around 20 phones by Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola and Sony Ericsson. There is even a full QWERTY keypad wireless phone in their range.

AT&T offers 3 Pay As You Go plans. On the Simple Rate Plan calling costs $0.25/minute and there are no daily access fees. On the Mobile to Mobile plan calling minutes cost $0.10 and there is a $1/day daily access fee. The plan includes unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes to other AT&T clients. Finally, there is the Unlimited Plan for which you pay the daily access fee of $3/day only on the days you use your phone. Sending an SMS costs $0.20 for each sent or received message. Unlimited text messaging is available as an supplementary feature.

Calling credits are available in the following range: $15, $25, $50, $75 and $100. Using Rollover Balance you can carry over your unused minutes at the end of the month.
