When starting your own business you are thinking about target market, experience, money, and so many other things but what about your company image. Projecting your constant image throughout all your marketing materials is how people get to recognize you. There are many things to take into consideration when developing an image and here a few of them to think about.

Your company name is first and foremost. Not only is it usually the first thing people here about your business, but in todays global market you need to make sure that it is unique. There are ways to check out if the name you want is already taken. Even if you are not ready for a website yet, check out the availability of the domain name for your business. If it is available chances are you are okay for your name, you should buy the domain name to keep it for yourself. Then do some business name searches from different parts of the world just to see if anything comes up. Of course you go to your own province, state etc and register your business name and make sure nothing comes up there. You do not want anyone else with the same name even if you are doing a different type of business. It just causes confusion. After you have a business name, it becomes easier to create the rest of your marketing items.

Your tagline is the next step. This is what people will remember when your name is brought up. It should encompass what you stand for and not be too long. You know most big businesses are known for their tag lines so this is well worth taking the time to come up with the perfect one for you. This can also change throughout the years as you grow.

Your logo will be used in many aspects of doing business globally, and again should reflect the image you want to portray. When people see it they should see strength and integrity there. This is also well worth taking the time to make sure it is something you are very comfortable with.

You would think that colour and fonts would be the easiest of them all but with all the choices out there this can be very difficult. It is also a lot of fun discovering all the different ways you can go. This is something else that can change over time so do not spend a lot of time on this one. As long as you can read it and the colours represent your image they are good.

Then there is your picture that will go on most social media platforms. Some people use their logo or other avatars instead of their picture. If you use your picture, again make sure in conveys the image that you want. Some people say you need just a head shot, or it should be in black and white, but this should be your own decision and what you feel comfortable with.

Once these are established you are ready to integrate it into all your marketing materials, like your website, brochures, business cards etc. You move forward knowing that what you are putting out there is allowing people to get to know you. You do not have to do all the creating yourself if you find you do not have the time or you just need help with ideas. There are many qualifed businessess out there to support you in your endeavours.
