We have certainly come a long way in terms of the methods we have at our disposal to communicate. It seems that with the multitude of ways we can converse with one another, there would be less miscommunication but there isn't... that, of course, is another story. We're here to discuss the many electronics and digital gadgets we can use to communicate with other people, regardless of where they are located in the world.

Wireless broadband and satellite make such methods of communication as cell phones and other wireless peripherals possible. Through the technology of wireless broadband, cell phones have been more capable than ever and have adapted to the changing needs of society. The top of the line cell phones cost about as much as the first cell phones did but feature a plethora of other options and features. Chatting through instant messaging applications that can be downloaded onto the cell phone and text messaging are just a couple of added features that new cell phones possess. Internet browsing capabilities and email are another. The wireless network continues to expand, and it won't be long before the most remote areas of the world can start using such devices as well.

Holding conferences with business colleagues all around the world no longer requires having to wait at the airport for any number of hours and taking a flight that could last another few hours. With video conferencing through various companies that offer the service, one can hold a meeting and give a full demonstration of a new product idea while his business associates are halfway across the world. Video conferencing, however, is not just for business professionals. Although this type is less formal, the use of webcams and landline telephone video has made communicating with others that much more enjoyable.

With the help of computers, keeping up to date with the events in other family, friends, and colleagues' lives is as simple as visiting their profile hosted by an online journal or social networking site. Such sites as Twitter, Facebook, and LiveJournal give anyone the low down on the goings on in the life of their favorite cousin, best friend, or friend who is volunteering for the Peace Corps in another country.

It is amazing to see the different methods of communication we have attained in just a few short years. In another few short years, it is exciting to wonder at what new technologies will be available to the consumer.
