A brisk stroll through a busy city street or a shopping center will depict the impact that technology has on society. Perhaps you might have seen an internet cafe or a shop with the latest offerings in computers. Or perhaps you might have passed one of the many cell phone vendor kiosks that line the center of the mall's path. There are many offerings in this technological era that we live in, and the way we communicate with one another has certainly made huge achieving strides as of late.

There was a time when people could only communicate with someone else who was located on the other side of the world through printed code on a Morse telegraph. Then telephones, which seemed to many like the greatest invention at the time, opened up a whole new way of communicating with virtually anyone else on the globe. Nowadays, phones are no longer limited and confined for usage in the home.

The thought of cell phones seemed unfathomable at first but now no one can imagine what life would be like without using a cell phone. With the latest cell offerings, one can speak to a colleague while surfing the web to check the bank account. Applications for games, entertainment, and expenses can be downloaded for a fee and sometimes for free through various online programs. Cell phones are no longer used for making and receiving phone calls; they can be now used to keep businesses expenses on track and for playing a quick game with someone else on the other side of the world while you are waiting for your bus to arrive.

With computers, there is the most basic form, email, and the possibilities of how we can communicate with one another are just beginning. For all we know, there are a plethora of other ways we can interact with one another or broadcast ourselves, such as the way YouTube suggests individuals do. Video conferencing through webcams, instant messaging, chat rooms, and forums are all ways that people have been communicating for many years, and now networking sites, such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter, allow people to keep track of the goings-on in the lives of their friends, family, and colleagues.

It's hard to imagine what else new technologies will bring to the table. As companies continue to develop new gadgets, it will be very interesting to see what new technologies will exist in just a few short years.
