Common Early Menopause Symptoms To Watch Out For

By:

Women going through menopause are affected by menopause differently. This means that no two women shall exhibit the same menopause symptoms in the same manner. Some women may not even show any symptoms of menopause at all. Symptoms may also last for different periods of time for different women. This article discusses early menopause signs to watch out for.

Menopause is defined as the time that a woman stops having menstrual cycles and is not an illness or disease. This is merely a transition between two phases that occur in a woman's lifetime. Going through "the change" can be trying for many women and the symptoms brought on by the hormonal changes relating to the transition to menopause do not help matters.

Various symptoms are associated with menopause. Menopause is brought on when a normal woman starts experiencing a decrease in the number of eggs produced by the ovaries. Progesterone levels as well as estrogen levels will start to decrease leading to hormonal imbalance which causes various side effects or symptoms of menopause. Menstrual cycles will start to decrease before stopping altogether.

Normal menopause occurs in women of about 48 to 55 years of age. Premature menopause occurs if the woman is less that 40 years of age. Late menopause occurs in women who are over 55 years of age. A common result of menopause is the loss of bone density and cholesterol levels in the blood can become worse that may increase the risk of having heart disease.

Early Menopause Symptoms

1. A change in the menstrual cycle. The menstrual cycle will start to shorten, start sooner or become irregular. The period may also become heavier or lighter than normal.

2. Hot flushes which usually happen either during the pre menopause stages of perimenopause (prior to the last menstrual cycle that a woman will have, there will be a two to three year period when women experience menopausal symptoms while they still have menstrual cycles), or the hot flushes can start happening after a woman has her last menstrual cycle. They can vary from mild to severe. The length of time that hot flushes can last vary from woman to woman. They can also become very severe the first year after the end of the last menstrual cycle that a woman will ever have.

3. Another menopause symptom is mood swings that occur within a very short amount of time. One minute the woman can be laughing and the very next minute she can start crying for no reason at all or feel depressed.

4. Insomnia is also another menopause symptom experienced by some women either due to the hot flushes or completely unrelated to hot flushes.

5. Some women going through menopause can also experience short term memory loss in addition to having trouble concentrating.

6. Some women may start to experience strange hair growth. Their hair may start to thin or hair can start growing in strange places such as the chin or lip.

These are only a few signs of menopause. More and more women are looking for natural remedies to treat the symptoms of menopause which have produced great results. Doctors usually recommend estrogen supplements which do not clear up the menopause symptoms.

Other doctors may recommend hysterectomies or other prescription medications such as Prozac, Zoloft, etc, to manage the symptoms of menopause. These can lead to various side effects in addition to being addictive which makes natural remedies the best at dealing with the symptoms of menopause.
