Common Beauty Facts And Myths

By:

Everyone's an expert on skin care these days. In fact, you cannot scour the web without stumbling upon article after article after article dishing out advice on various skin care products and formulas. Let me share a secret with you-not everything you read about on the internet is true. Of course that can also mean that the above statement is false which then translates to the fact that this entire post is a sham. Either way, feel free to interpret it however you see fit. Below are some myths that I have investigated and found to be really wanting. In this post I will separate the beauty facts from the fiction to spare you all the time and hustle of doing it yourselves.

Myth number one to be debunked concerning beauty cosmetics is that cucumbers reduce eye puffiness. This statement is partially true and partially false at the same time. Allow me to explain. Cucumbers, on their own do not reduce puffiness. We are familiar with the simile as cool as a cucumber. This simile was brought about because cucumbers are able to remain cold for very long periods outside refrigerator conditions. In essence, it is actually the cold that actually reduces the puffiness not the cucumbers. Other cold substances such as ice packets or even a cold steak placed over the eye can have the same effect.

Myth number two that should be sent to the deepest pit of hell is that drinking lots of water actually leads to beautiful skin. While there are numerous benefits associated with water to the appearance of the skin, drinking too much of it will only result in bloating and excessive trips to the bathroom.

Myth number three is that aluminium antiperspirants can actually cause breast cancer. This is one cosmetic myth that is actually misconstrued to be true while it's not. According to research conducted, there has been no proven link between breast cancer and aluminium antiperspirants. Of course now and again the topic of how aluminium salts in the antiperspirants mess with a woman's breast cells via the armpit lymph nodes will surface. My advice to you - don't sweat it- literally.

Myth number four on my list is there's no need to use sunscreen on a cloudy day. The sun produces harmful UVB rays that harm the surface of the skin. Irrespective of whether the day is sunny or cloudy, the sun is still there and so does are its radiations. Following that logic, the radiations can penetrate the clouds and still damage your skin irrespective of whether you can see the sun or not.

Myth five and the last cosmetic fiction is that shaving actually makes hair grow thicker. Over the years I have encountered numerous folks who actually believe this. However, it is time to let the cat out of the bag and denounce this false truth. Here's what really happens. When one shaves, they're actually cutting hair strands off at their largest diameter so that what is left is usually the blunt end which is thicker and coarser than what they're used to.
