Commercial Chest Freezers

Commercial chest freezers are, like the name suggests, chests with a lift up lid. They are a similar shape to an upright refrigerator but lying down. They are used in domestic and commercial situations and generally have a large capacity.

Freezers preserve food so that it last much longer by inactivating microbes whilst the food is frozen. Enzymes occurring in vegetables that cause them to perish are only slowed down. Most food can be put into a freezer to make it last longer, with the exception of eggs. However, some foods are damaged by the freezing and thawing process and will produce lower quality results. Raw meats freeze better than cooked meats and some salad such as lettuce does not freeze well at all.

Freezing raw and prepared foods mean that it is ready for when it is needed. Sauces, soups, puddings and meats can be prepared in advance, ready for retrieval. This means time in the kitchen can be used efficiently as foods can be prepared in bulk when the kitchen is less busy and simply retrieved from the freezer during busy periods.

There are several high quality brands to choose from if you want the best quality commercial chest freezer. These include Fosters, Gram, Valera and Liebherr. Valera also produces a range of cooking equipment and Liebherr make many other machines, although both brands produce top quality, advanced commercial chest freezers.

If space is at a premium then it is worth considering that good quality stainless steel lids can double up as a work surface. Fosters, Gram, Valera and Liebherr all make commercial chest freezers with stainless steel lids.
Modern chest freezers are more energy efficient than older models and even the newer models vary. It is worth choosing a more energy efficient model as it will be cheaper to run. Another point to consider when purchasing a chest freezer is its capacity. Foster does a compact 295 litre capacity model whereas Liebherr does a huge 600 litre capacity model.
