You can reach PEI and the City of Summerside directly by crossing from New Brunswick via the Confederation Bridge. The Confederaton Bridge spans 13 kilometres across the Northumberland Strait and provides a direct link by land to the island. From there it is a 20 minute drive into the city. You can also reach PEI by air. You will find flights daily into Charlottetown Airport and you will have a
45 minute drive from the airport to Summerside or you can cross on the ferry between Wood's Island and Caribou, Nova Scotia. This is a seasonal car ferry and sails about every hour and a half. The car trip from Wood's Island to Summerside is about another hour and a half.

However you get here, once you are here you will see the architecture of Summerside. Summerside has a history of shipbuilding, the silver fox industry, and a mercantile heritage. The scions of industry in Summerside built truly impressive homes on tree lined streets and these are still very much viable residences.

In addition to Historical Walking Tours Summerside offers many adventures including attending a Celtic concert at the college of piping, sampling the bounty of the sea, Malpeque Oysters, mussels and the ubiquous Lobster Supper, as well as enjoying the baywalk and the beach to be found right in the heart of downtown. Summerside has used the slogan, "the only thing we overlook is the water". There is also the Confederation Trail that meanders right through the downtown residential core and was the former rail bed. If you are a little more adventurous yet you may want to try a sea kayaking trip or a deep sea fishing tour.

Also to be found in the heart of downtown is the Shipyard Market. The market is 7000 square feet offering a variety of musical events, water sports, festivals and more is located right on the baywalk and the waterfront and features a seafood restaurant with open air seating looking right out on the water. You should also plan a visit to Spinnaker's Landing along the waterfront, the home of the cardboard boat race and many island shops and attractions. The Eptek Centre is also located next to Spinnaker's Landing and is the Summerside home of PEI culture and performance art.

While you are here you might have a look at one other thing that Summerside has to offer and thats a great lifestyle and a lower cost of living thanks to our lower housing costs. PEI real estate and Summerside real estate offer tremendous opportunities investment. Come to PEI and you may not want to leave.
