Financial aid from the Federal government is the latest topic because the new leadership under Obama is very active in extending help to make people experience tertiary education. You might be asking why. Definitely, having more graduates have a significant relationship with the rise of the economy, since most of them live a stable life as law-abiding citizens.

Thus, Obama has put scholarships for moms as his top priority. This is due to the fact that mothers are often left out to benefit on federal aid programs. Another reason is that they feel they can't attend school any longer. It's Obama's goal to change this stigma as he pushed on increasing the fund of the Pell Grant in just weeks upon assuming authority.

What are the Different Scholarships and Grants Available for Moms?

There are a few federal student assistance programs that funds mothers who wishes to pursue studies but doesn't want any student loan.

1. Pell Grant
Being the most widely known grant, this needs-based fund is for students who don't earn much. So if you belong to any of the qualifications; a single or a low-income worker, makes it a point to apply for a Pell Grant that could provide as much as $5,350.

2. National SMART Grant
Junior and senior students who are studying bany math or science related fields can avail of the National Science & Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant.

3. TEACH Grant
Giving as much as $4000 annually, the Education Assistance for College and Higher Education is particularly for applicants who are eying a teaching position someday in either private or public high schools.

4. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Meanwhile, the FSEOG is open for people having the lowest expected family contributions. Being a financial based grant, it ranges from $100 to $4000 annually.

5. Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
A new grant program that began 3 years ago, the Academic Competitiveness Grant is open for high school graduates not beyond 2006. Young moms can take advantage of this and get the chance to receive $750 on your initial year as a scholar and $1300 when you turn sophomore.
