College Admissions Couldn't Be Easier

By:

Searching for a college is one tough job. The biggest influence on my decision where to go was the college scholarship that I was offered. You see, I was a high school athlete and wanted to continue to play sports in college. However, I was mainly limited to the colleges around my home state. I did not play on any traveling teams or attend a high profile school, and thus my chance of being recruited by a variety of schools was limited.

Let me share with you what colleges do to recruit the best prospects for their program. A coach from a school of higher education travels around the states visiting high school state tournaments. Because my team didn't make the state tournament often I had to trust on my coach and who she knew in order to be made known. To this day I only wish it would have been possible for me to take control of the recruiting process instead of having to rely on only my coaches contacts.

If you want to be recruited, you either have to be a very big star athlete, have the right name, or have the right connections. I had to do my own search to find a college that was desirable for me. I was able to compare colleges in the state after being contacted by nearly all of them. Thankfully, my coach knew the right people at a junior college that was the best in their division.

I lucked out and found a talented junior college to play for, but even though I did get to play for that college, I still think about what could have happened if I had a college search tool available to me or a place that I could put all the information about me in order to showcase my talents both on and off of the court.

That's not the only college I played for. I was able to play for a university and got a sweet college scholarship for doing so. Living in the age of information colleges are able to learn about athletes and students quickly, but it can be a time-consuming process if they don't know where to look. Sadly enough, many of the most talented athletes never get looked at because they don't know the right people who have the right connections. Shouldn't we do something about that?

I know the difficulty it is for coaches to do recruiting. They go out searching the country for players that they can recruit to their team. This costs them time and money. If they don't go across the country looking, they are still at home doing their best to find players by calling around and talking with their friends in the coaching business. I remember helping my own coach, the year after I finished playing. I had to fill and address envelopes to to alot of different universities and colleges asking if they had any athletes available. What a terrible waste of energy.

Well now there is something much better, something that is revolutionizing the college admissions process. A new website that allows students to control the whole admissions process has been made. Power is shifting from the admissions officer to the student and things couldn't look brighter for prospective college students. Now my old coach will be able to view athletes own personal highlight videos and recruit those that will best fit the teams program.
