To assess any niche you must examine each element and quantify the viability of your ability to succeed in that target coaching niche. First, we need to be clear about what each quantifier means and why it is important to the success of a coaching business.

Size of Market

It may come as a surprise but some markets can be too big to be a good target coaching niche and some can be too small as well. If a market is too big then you must narrow your target so that you can effectively reach that market affordably. If the market is too small then you may not have enough potential clients to sustain your coaching business.

An example of a target coaching niche that is too big is fitness. That is a huge market and because it is so huge there is no way to effectively reach your potential coaching clients with a message that will resonate with them and stand out from all the other messages. By narrowing the target from fitness to fitness for men over forty, you can be much more targeted and focused on the message that will motivate that target coaching niche to take action.

Make sure that you have chosen a target coaching niche that is not too large for your message to reach them and penetrate all the clutter or too small to support your coaching business. You can do this by determining the keywords for your target coaching niche and seeing how many people are searching for those keywords.

Ability to Pay

I know many coaches who cannot earn enough income even though they have chosen a target coaching niche they are passionate about because they have chosen a niche that has no ability to afford coaching. I know we all want to help everyone but we can't and that is just a fact of life. We simply cannot help everyone that needs help.

If we want to be able to help some of the people who need help we much choose a target coaching niche that will support out coaching business and help us earn enough that we can donate and dedicate time to those who cannot afford coaching.

You must choose a target coaching niche that can afford to pay for your services and there are many niches out there that cannot. Research your target coaching niche and make sure that they have the ability to support your business and if not choose a niche that does and do pro-bono work for the other niche once you have covered your financial obligations.
