Cna Skill Test What The Test Is All About

There is a need to pass a certification exam prior to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant or CNA. The National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) is offered to those who wish to be a part of the profession. It is usually divided into two parts, the first one being based on the knowledge of trainees and the second part, a CNA skill test which assesses the performance of trainees when it comes to bedside care.
The NNAAP requires trainees to complete a 75 hour program in training facilities, which 16 hours of these in the clinical setting performing the different tasks a normal Certified Nursing Assistant usually do. Aside from this, there is also a need to present a high school diploma prior to taking the examination.
The examination itself is a competency test for those who are fit to become Certified Nursing Assistants. It is offered to trainees at the end of their training program on which they are encouraged to totally pass the examination for them to be issued a certification and a chance to be listed on the Nursing Aide Registry.
What is the first part of the examination all about?
The first part of the examination tests the knowledge of trainees when it comes to basic concepts and ideas taught during their training program. These would usually include theories about simple nursing as well as notions relating to Anatomy and Physiology, lists of patient rights and a lot more. These are offered in 70 questions, all of them in multiple choice questions. These are offered in the English language.
What is the second part of the examination about?
The skills portion of the examination basically requires trainees to perform 5 procedures. These are taken from the list of 25 basic methods which are usually performed in the clinical setting. The return demonstration should be in proper sequence according to the manner it was presented during the training program. These are then executed in front of a qualified panelist who will grade the trainees according to their total performance. Checklist is marked for every correct process, while points are deducted for procedures wrongly performed.
Common skills required to perform during the second part of the exam are obtaining basic vital signs, assisting patients in turning and repositioning, applying anti-embolic stockings, offering bed bath, nail and oral care, preparing an occupied bed, assisting patients in ambulation and passive range of motion exercises.
