Club Volleyball The Ultimate Team Experience

By:

There are few other sports that place a higher demand on teamwork then the game of volleyball. Each team comprises itself of individuals who must be consistently placed into action to keep the ball alive and give their team the best possible chance to succeed.

Although the benefits of volleyball are extensive many schools do not offer the sport. For those athletes wishing to pursue the game participating in club volleyball may be their only option.

Where can I find Club Volleyball?

There are many programs nationwide which give athletes the chance to compete on a club volleyball team. National organizations such as the Amateur Athletic Association (AAU) offer sanctioned teams and tournaments across the country for volleyball enthusiasts to participate in. A simple online search will reveal these possibilities.

Stay Local: Join a Volleyball League

If staying local is a more desirable option many towns, through their recreation departments, offer volleyball leagues for youth and adults. These leagues entail players to join together to form a team. A cost per team is normally associated with these leagues to pay for the facility and referees.

School Choice may be an Option

Many schools who do not offer volleyball as a high school sport often cooperate with other schools that do. This means that players enrolled at one high school may petition to play volleyball for another school. This can be a great experience for young athletes to meet kids from another area and to enjoy the sport at a more competitive level.

You Can Improve on Your own

One of the great aspects of volleyball is there is ample opportunity to work on your skills on your own. All it takes is a ball and some open space. A motivated athlete can work for hours on their individual skills which, when placed in a competitive setting, will greatly assist their team.

Volleyball at the Next Level

Volleyball is offered as a varsity and club sport at many American colleges for both males and females. If an athlete possesses the talent and desire to compete there are many options available. It is important to keep in prospective the range of your talents to ensure you find the right fit. Too often players over exaggerate their abilities thinking they can play at the highest level even when they are not offered a scholarship. This can lead to a player being cut from a team which can have negative effects on the athlete moving forward.
