Cleveland Indians Look To Settle Rotation For The 2010 Season

By:

If there was ever a team that wanted to put a season behind them, it is the Cleveland Indians. 2009 is best forgotten and it is time to look to the future and get the 2010 season started. Changes needed to be made and they were. Now it is time to see if those moves are going to pay off and get the Cleveland Indians back into post season play.

Knowing that they had to make changes, the Cleveland Indians have rebooted and are ready to let some of the younger talent strut their stuff. This team is stocked with lots of young players that are looking to make a name for themselves. With every single one of them fighting for their livelihoods, fans will finally see some ballplayers that are excited about being in the major leagues.

A casual glance at the roster would have people thinking that this team is more like the movie "Major League" than they would care to believe. However, if you really look at some of these players, there are some up and coming stars in this lineup that are going to be a pure joy to watch. A lot of these kids can flat out play the game.

If we had to pick one player that really looks great it would have to be Shin-Soo Choo. He was nothing special when he first came over from Korea in 2005, but he came into his own the moment he put on a Cleveland Indians Uniform. He played mostly part time his first few seasons, but you could tell that something was brewing.

Finally, in 2008 he absolutely lit it up. He played about 60% of the season, but put up some stats that managers would take from everyday players. Because of that, he found himself in a starting role in 2009 and continued to improve. It would not be a surprise to see him hit well over .300 and launch close to 30 home runs this season.

The one area of concern is the starting pitching, but even that is starting to come together. Nobody's job is safe right now and while there will be one or two players that will pitch scared and get rocked, we will see a few that will step up and take on the challenge. This could result in some breakout seasons for the pitching staff.

April only shows a few games at home, so you may want to get your tickets early. Fans in Cleveland are going to want to see what this team has to offer and good seats will be hard to come by. These young players are going to eat up all the attention and this is a rare opportunity to get to know the team before their head doesn't fit into their hat anymore.
