Clear My Credit - Seven Steps To Clear My Credit History

By:

To clean your credit report you will need to remove the negative marks that past financial mistakes may have caused. Additionally you could have an error on your history that should be removed too. It is estimated that 1 in every 4 reports contain a mistake.

1. Reports - you need to get a copy of these, one from each bureau. Federal law gives you the right to one copy from each bureau for free, each year.

2. Identify Negative Marks - what are the derogatory items on your file? Do these look questionable? Are you being contacted by collection agencies for things you see on your file?

3. Dispute Letter - in this letter you need to include the item, the reason, and any additional information you have. You must mail a letter to each bureau, that is showing this item on your report.

4. Is It Valid - the bureaus are reluctant to investigate disputes. Thus, they have created a rather sophisticated and on the very edge of legality system of handling with these. The primary goal being to avoid investigations at all costs. Simply its because it only costs the bureaus money to investigate.

5. Persistence or Professional - if you are determined, organized, willing to make the extra effort and do research then by all means you can fix your report yourself. You can probably also change your oil, build a house, and fix an airplane....

The point is you can do this all yourself however it is also an intelligent move to research a professional service. They can be used at a very reasonable rate and bring to the table expertise in consumer credit laws.

These services will usually consist of a group of lawyers and paralegals. It is a far superior choice to just giving up on fixing your file, you don't just have to live with it. Which ever route you choose you should anticipate this process taking roughly 6 - 12 months.

6. Investigation Results - once your letter is deemed valid the bureau will investigate. They will contact the collection agency or lender that created the item and ask them to verify the account. If your account is verified or updated to accurately reflect the situation the item will remain. However if your account is not verified then by law the bureaus must remove it from your report. You will get a letter notifying you of the results.

7. Intelligence - while you are dealing with fixing the mistakes of the past make sure to take something away from it. Please, use financial discipline moving forward and I am only speaking to the reckless individuals. I am not speaking to those that are victims of identity theft or have experience one of the many curve balls we are all thrown in life.

Please, remember there are many great people and very wealthy individuals that have gone flat broke, often times more than once! Many of these figures are seen today as our forefathers and revolutionary figures in their industry however sometimes life happens and we just can't make ends meet. You are not alone!

Stop living with the high cost and embarrassment of a bad score. Take action and make those three little numbers work some good for you, they really do directly influence the quality of life you can live.
