Cleaning Up Your Home Inside After You Stop Smoking Tobacco

By:

If you have recently switched to using an e cigarette instead of smoking tobacco, you probably noticed that it leaves no stinky odor. This means that you can use it indoors without having to worry about offending other people in the home or visitors that do not smoke. Once you stop smoking tobacco inside the house, you will want to get everything clean and fresh again and get rid of the stale tobacco smell and residue.

If you have never noticed before how damaged your home can get because of burning tobacco inside your home, all you have to do is take a hot soapy cloth and wipe down a spot on a ceiling. You will be able to see right away what comes off on the cloth. You will see a brown staining that is tar residue. This nasty stuff has likely accumulated on your walls, ceilings, furniture, pictures and even clothes in your closets. This is even more likely if you were a heavy smoker or if there are multiple smokers in the home.

You will need a lot of clean water and a strong cleaner in order to get all of the smoke residue removed from the home itself and your belongings. You might as well not get in a hurry because if you are doing the cleaning on your own, it is likely to take several days. Start with the ceilings and work your way down. Be careful when you get to cleaning the furniture and draperies. You might want to hire a professional to clean those if you are not sure how to go about it. There are several spray on upholstery cleaners that might work well. Always test a spot in an unnoticeable place for color steadfastness before you clean the entire piece of furniture. The same goes for any carpeting you might have.

Clothes that you wear frequently and are laundered often are not as likely to have the smoke build up, but things you store in closets from season to season might require stain treatment and laundering or even dry cleaning to get out tar residue and odor. Once you have cleaned your home from top to bottom, you will feel like you have a brand new house even if it looks the same. Using your e cigarette inside the home will not produce all of that tar build up and odor because it just does not produce them.
