Classy Or Crazy: Hen Party Ideas

By:

Sure, a hen night is supposed to be for the bride. Still, this is a traditional opportunity to draw focus onto her in a potentially humiliating manner. If she has a great sense of humor, then consider some hen party ideas that would make the neck hairs on anyone considering matrimony stand on end.

For example, it is not uncommon to see a woman flaunted around town dressed in an outlandish outfit. She may wear a wig, gaudy clothes, tiara, or a combination thereof. Attendants could be dressed in matching uniforms, also attention grabbing, just not nearly as embarrassing. Thankfully, if the brides disguise is compiled with care, she may not be recognized.

Choosing a theme could help set the tone for your evening. Select a focus such as a hobby or something the bride collects. Dress up as cowgirls, angels, devils, even belly dancers. Don matching t-shirts or agree to wear a particular color from hat to boots. Back at the home of a brides maid, use a blown-up photo and play pin the ring/bow-tie/handbag on the groom. The organizer could build a quiz out of trivia about the groom-to-be in the style of Jeopardy or Family Feud. Just make sure no one drives home under the influence of alcohol, which may flow freely at this goofy event.

A classier event will not involve Petri dishes or wigs but will instead be organized around something civilized. Some wineries will take private group bookings and teach guests how to taste wine properly or pair it with different foods. Organize an eye-spy around town, stopping in shops and at points of historic interest collecting or taking photos of landmarks listed to gain a prize: dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Cosmetic or salon parties have taken on new life in recent years. They extend beyond trying face creams and rouge to full pedicures and facials. Put one together yourself by hiring a masseuse to offer treatments to every guest, or keep costs down by taking turns giving massages, painting nails and styling hair for one another.

Take the spa theme to a higher level by going to the professionals. Book a group session (which will often lead to discounts) for facials and shiatsu. Make it a weekend away if possible. Book rooms at a hotel or inn and share double beds, as though having a sleepover.

Take advantage of living in or near an exciting location. Several metropolitan centres offer helicopter tours. Set out white water rafting for the wet and wild ride of your pre-married life. Go bungee jumping, sky-diving or parasailing. The groom may not want to know your plans ahead of time, though, in case he gets nervous and tries to sabotage the event.

About the Author:
Not only will the bride-to-be enjoy the party but all the guests too. For example, do not throw her a western themed party if you know that is not her idea of fun. Afterwards, everyone can go play paintball, visit amusement parks, do river rafting, etc. Hen Party This article, Classy Or Crazy: Hen Party Ideas is available for free reprint.
