Classroom Games For Teenagers

At first you could think that the only games that could keep young teenagers interest are video games, for example sniper games and the most famous Counter Strike for boys, and some makeover game where they could dress up like a celebrity or something, for the girls, but its not exactly like that.

Actually there are many interesting and educating games that could be played in the classroom which could keep their attention and could help them affirm their knowledge or could use as a relaxation between the classes. This is an excellent refreshing break from lecture and more traditional forms of review that could affect positively on teenagers.

Interesting way for revising childrens knowledge is taking a knowledge quiz one day before the regular test. "Jeopardy" is a game that many people know from TV, but this time is played in classroom. You need a two teams, it should be set a number of categories, which should be displayed on the board, with five questions beneath each.

Questions are worth 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 points each - most difficult question in each category worth the most points. It could be played in few rounds and a final question where teams can bet as many points as they have on their answer.

Another interesting way to revise knowledge is the game Just a minute where the class should also be divided on two teams. There should be a list of topics being reviewed,and one player on the active team is given a topic so he must speak on it for one minute without pause. If he starts pausing, speaking on a different topic or telling a false fact, the opposite team gets the points.

Who am I is a popular game that is often played in parties, but also can be useful in history or literature classes. It can be used historical figures from the lesson, or characters from a set work or author. Cards containing the names of characters are given to the students face down. They hold the card to their forehead with the name facing out so others can see it. They ask their classmates yes-or-no questions about themselves to determine who they are.

Scavenger hunts are great for students in classes for foreign language. Their task is to find a list of items which are listed only in the language being taught, for example list of German words for a German class. Students should learn what every word means, in order to complete the hunt, using a dictionary, if needed.

When its about communication skills and acquainting between the students, True, False, True is a very useful game. It can be used early in the year at schools where students dont know many of their classmates, but also on summer classes or seminars.

Also it helps loosen up students for classes that require expression, such astheatreclasses. Every student writes down three statements about him - two true and one false. They all take turns reading their statements while their classmates attempt to guess which the lie is.
