Christmas And Produce Hampers - Beyond The Hamper!

By:

Hampers come at Christmas or enjoyed at picnics right? They are wickerwork boxes right? Well without a doubt, and it is seriously to be hoped these particular customs will carry on into the distant future, they have not survived for so long for no reason. Wicker work is remarkably robust and light weight and yet is known for its natural human feel.

However is more that can be done, more creativity and colour that can be brought to the right circumstance to amuse family and friends in the same manner that the time honored hamper does with it's unknown but wonderfully discoverable array of delights.

How about a collection of barbecue condiments, spices and accessories - a wonderful present to complement a summer birthday or special event. But how about placing it inside a convenient fire-proof (!) galvanised bucket, perfect for toting out to the fire and somehow fitting for the purpose.

What about a present for that bright and breezy young lady around town? You need colour and glitz and lots of products can be obtained to fit the bill. However is a wicker hamper really appropriate? What about putting the whole lot inside a bold and be-ribboned hat box filled with coloured tissue - fantastic.

Then there's the present for the working gardener, gloves, salves and care products for tired hands. Again a lovely collection of novelties can be put together but is a hamper really right? How about a useful gardening tidy bag which you can use for trowel and secateurs when the original contents have been used.

Perhaps a regional themed gift is the thing What about a bottle of good single malt some shortbread, oatcakes and a tin of the highest quality venison pate? What to package this in? Well how about rolling it all up within a tartan picnic rug and tying it with a quality hunting strap. Original and practical all at once.

Then finally there's sweets. Sweets can be bought in boxes and jars. But let's not stop there. Sweets take on a drama of their own when presented in stacks and towers of numerous ribbon tied boxes, packets cascading around on untying to be grabbed and examined by excited fingers.

The list of ideas is just as endless as your imagination although the theme is the same. A carefully chosen assortment of produce and products attractively packed together. A hamper but beyond a hamper. Now if you want some wonderful ideas and pointers towards what is possible you will discover places it is possible to go, and there is little question in my mind that Virginia Hayward is the first and best place to look.
