The police, however, declined to reveal their identities, while plainclothesmen were immediately deployed around their residences. They were also provided with body guards. Sources said the owner of a hotel in south Kolkatahad got threat calls since 20 February, while similar calls were made to the offices of two well-known shoe manufacturing companies in central Kolkata around the same time. Initially, the businessmen didn't take the calls seriously.
