Choosing The Right Structured Cabling Company

By:

Choosing the right cabling company to install your network infrastructure can be a daunting task, and we are here to help. Checking with the better business bureau can be a good start in your search, don't fret if you can not find a profile on the company that you are searching, no profile is better than a profile with many negative remarks. Using Google to do some research can be your best tool in researching companies. At a bare minimum the cabling company should have a website, a simple search of the companies name should bring up some results, of which one should be their website, you can also filter through these results to see if you find postings on comment websites for negative and positive comments on the company, typically these remarks are made by past clients.

In the world of information technology and network cabling choosing a cabling company on the lowest project bid can end up costing your more in the end when you consider what it will cost to fix a bad install along with what it will cost you and your company while your network is down due to a poor installation. Down time will cost you more than you would think. Don't get me wrong I am not telling you to go out and chose the highest project bid thinking just cause they cost more they will be better cause this is not always the case, many times the highest bidder is just over priced or just a new company that does not know what they are doing yet and you could be one of their first prospects.

A very important part of the network-cabling bid is the warranty, if a company does not include clearly what their warranty policy is I would steer clear; if a company is not willing to warranty the install it is not worth to risk it! A warranty of 2 to 5 years is ideal but more the better, one thing to keep in mind is that the warranty is only as strong as the company, if you are given a 10 year warranty but the company is out of business a year after your installation your 10 year warranty is now worthless. We do not recommend paying for extra guarantee as 9 out of 10 times the cost of your warranty is included in the cabling bid price.

The newest and greatest products are not always the best to implement into your installation and is best to steer clear of these products. Many no name or less know brands are in many cases as good or better as brand name technology and can save you BIG money. The key to using less known brands is to find a company that has used them before and knows how well they work and perform.

I hope these quick tips will help you get the right attitude when purchasing your new structured cabling infrastructure. Buying a new cabling system can be a struggle, but these simple tips will help you buy your new system and feel good about it.
