Choosing The Right Shoes: Shoes Can Influence How Your Back Feels

By:

Choosing shoes to wear to work or for a long period of time isn't just about the fashion. Of course, the style of your shoes is important, but your shoes can also affect your feet, ankles, legs, back, and therefore, your mood. Some workplaces require you to have a certain type of shoe, for example, you might have to wear close toed shoes in a food or office setting. Sometimes shoe rules are more lax, and you can wear whatever shoes you like most. No matter the shoe rules at your place of work, you should get the shoes that, no pun intended, best fit you.

If you're curious as to what shoe size you wear, you should go to a store that specializes in shoes. If you want to buy athletic shoes for work, you should probably go to a sporting goods store and have your feet measured. If you need some type of boot or steel-toed shoe, you might want to have your feet measured at an outdoor type store. If you want fashionable, yet comfortable shoes, you might want to go to a shoe warehouse or a store that only sells shoes. This way, you can be properly sized and an associate can help you choose the perfect shoes.

There is one rule of thumb that people often forget when they purchase shoes is not to wear them for an entire day at work when you first get them. Wear them to the park for awhile, wear them out to dinner, or wear them anywhere that you can easily take them off if they hurt your feet. Most shoes need to be "broken in" so that they don't hurt your ankles or back. If you're constantly hitting the ground in a manner your feet aren't used to, you can feel the pain as high as your neck. Then, you might need to call a chiropractor to have it looked at.

If you have a job that's typically considered physically demanding, or you're on your feet for several hours at a time, shoes are the most important part of your outfit. You'll want comfortable shoes. Ladies, this means that you don't want severe heels that cause your feet to bend in unnatural ways. This also means that you don't want shoes that are completely flat with no soles. If you do want to buy these types of shoes, they make plenty of different kinds of insoles these days. These insoles will give your shoe some dimension and take some of the shock off of your body when you walk.

Another alternative to work shoes these days are the type of shoe that have a balance ball for the heel. These are designed to work out your legs when you walk. Be aware that there are generally two types of these shoes. One type is for those who are running, and they are extremely uncomfortable for anyone who is just walking in them. Another type of shoe is the kind made for walking. The balance ball is less severe, so the shoes are more comfortable.
