Choosing The Best Sofa Beds

By:

Sofa beds are an excellent answer when one needs extra space for unexpected guests. Often homes are not equipped to accommodate guests who may drop in for an overnight stay. When one has a sofa bed, they have an extra bed without having to disrupt a member of the family. In most cases the sofa bed acts as a sofa in a family or living room most of the time and is only made into a bed when needed.

Technological advancements have resulted in sofa beds that are extremely well made and durable. The beds that were made with steel tubing no longer exist, and the old mattresses that one could not sleep on have been replaced with firm and comfortable mattresses. Today's sofas do not look like sofa beds. Most are designed to replicate sectional sofas or are designed in shapes that are not representative of the old sofas.

The fabric of the sofas has advanced also. Fabrics are available in a range of colors and styles. One may find sofas available in an embossed neutral tone, or a brightly colored modern print. The fabrics used on sofa beds is treated to make it stain and wear resistant. In addition, all parts that are mobile are reinforced so that there is minimal wear to the fabric in those areas.

The sizes of the sofas can accommodate a small space or a large space. The size of the bed is dependent on the size of the sofa. A small sofa will turn into a twin size bed, while a large sofa will turn into a queen or king size bed. In some cases sectional sofa have mechanisms that latch together to create a bed from the seating area. These beds have build in mattresses that also act as seating for the sofa.

When seating is an issue in a small apartment or room, one can include a small sofa that will accommodate three people easily when seated. This sofa will turn into a twin size bed and allow one to have guests stay overnight comfortably.

The most common area for sofa beds is a family room or den. When used in these areas, one can provide a private area for guests to sleep undisturbed. However, the construction of the sofa allows for constant use by family members with causing damage to the material or construction of the sofa.

Many people are selecting faux leather or leather sofa beds. These sofas provide years of use and are comfortable as either a sofa or a bed. They often are manufactured in pigmented leather which is highly durable and stain resistant and require minimum cleaning and maintenance.

When one is considering sofa beds they will want to think about the location of the sofa. The size of the sofa when it has been turned into a bed should not block entry or door ways. One will want to select a sofa that fits with the decor of the room, is the size that will accommodate the people who will be sitting on it comfortably, and is comfortable to sleep on.
