Perhaps you have just bought a new bar or pub business, or maybe you are thinking about refurbishing your existing business. Either way, refurbishment is an exciting process of choosing paints,
pub furniture, accessories and soft furnishings.
With or without the aid of an interior design company, it is important to decide on a theme for your establishment. Base your theme on the architecture of your building and its surroundings. As the famous French architect Le Corbusier once said: 'The materials of planning are sky, space, trees, steel and cement in that order and in that hierarchy.'
If your establishment is in a period building or an unusual location such as a converted church or stables, then follow the building's lead in a theme. Such historic or interesting sites can benefit from a vintage or classical theme, reflecting their surroundings - or can look quirky with a blend of modern and old features interspersed.
Whereas, if your pub or bar is located in an ultra modern setting such as in a marina development or high street nightspot, then a high-gloss, uber chic look may work well. A modern building with no existing features presents a blank canvas for design and can welcome itself to themes such as an oriental, crisp white, or glass, metal and industrial designs.
As well as design, you must consider the functionality of your establishment. If your bar or pub is multifaceted in nature, then it would be prudent to supply an area for dancing or entertainment and a comfy area to chill out or catch up with friends. Furniture in both areas must match their function with sofas and coffee style tables better suited to social areas and stools or stackable chairs in entertainment or beside bar locations.
