Choosing Clear Braces For Less Obvious Reasons

By:

One of the most intriguing and appealing developments in teeth alignment is the introduction of clear braces or invisible braces, especially those manufactured by Invisalign London. The immediate and obvious advantage of clear braces compared to traditional braces used for teeth alignment is the fact that being clear they are virtually invisible.

Although having neater, better aligned teeth is very desirable, especially for those people who may have quite crooked teeth, or large gaps, wearing a very obvious brace for two or three years is not always considered much better. When you consider that the majority of people who tend to wear braces are in their teens and twenties, it can be a particularly difficult time to wear something so obviously detectable, and clear braces offer a very much more attractive alternative.

But whilst it's easy to see this benefit, and easy to assume it's the only real benefit to be considered, there are in fact other advantages too. Indeed, in many cases the fact that the braces manufactured by Invisalign London are virtually undetectable and invisible is of secondary importance to some people. So what are the other benefits of using clear braces for teeth alignment besides the most obvious, and talked about one?

The first thing to be aware of is that clear braces are not simply a direct alternative to traditional braces. They work in a completely different way, are designed and manufactured completely differently and are worn quite differently. These differences are important, and it's in this differences that the additional benefits lie besides the invisibility of Invisalign braces.

The first advantage to consider is that whereas normal braces tend to be worn for between two and three years on average, invisible braces only need to be worn for a few months - almost certainly less than a single year. This alone is often one of the major reasons why people choose such braces, but how is it possible to achieve correct teeth alignment in such a significantly shorter space of time?

The answer is that in fact you don't wear one single set of clear braces, but during the course of your teeth alignment you will end up wearing several dozen. Each fortnight you will be required to visit your Invisalign dentist to have your old set of clear braces removed, and a new set fitted. Each subsequent set of braces is very slightly different, helping to continually nudge your teeth into the desired position. This is unlike a normal set of braces which once fitted will simply continue to apply pressure in the same way throughout the whole process. With invisible braces the teeth can be adjusted and moved individually, in different ways at different times in order to achieve the exact alignment that is desired.

This introduces another advantage people often find helps them to decide to use Invisalign braces, and that's the level of accuracy in the final result. Normal braces are fitted and adjusted by a dentist based largely on intuition and professional guesswork. Often the results are excellent, but nonetheless, it is still largely guesswork.

With clear braces a very detailed impression and scan of the teeth is taken, and fed into a computer where a virtual reality 3D model of your teeth is created. The dentist is then able to individually move your virtual teeth around to achieve the ideal end result and the computer then develops the individual stages required to achieve that result. These stages are then translated into each subsequent set of clear braces provided to you fortnightly throughout the process.

So whether it's the benefit of having braces which are virtually undetectable, wearing braces for a much shorter period of time, or using clear braces to achieve a more accurate and predetermined teeth alignment outcome, invisible braces from Invisalign London offer many benefits compared to traditional braces.
