Here are some different types of watch

This is one of the most common watches that you can buy. It is convenient and operated by batteries, this means you won't have to wind it up and it will be accurate and stable. This is in contrast to a mechanical watch, which is sometimes noted for losing a few minutes every month. A battery-powered quartz watch will usually lose only a few seconds.

Mechanical watches

This is the most traditional type of watch, and will require winding. This is because it has a spring inside that needs to be wound so the gears work, because it works more slowly than a quartz it is likely to lose some time over a month.

Automatic mechanical watch

This watch is also called a self winding watch, and is a great watch for wearing everyday. Your hand movement will contribute to the watch working, which means you don't have to wind it. Some of these watches also have a see-through plate so you can see the gears.

Manual mechanical watch

This watch needs winding every single day, and is a great choice for those who only want to wear their watch every so often.

Binary watches

This is one of the newest types of watches, and is increasing in popularity. It uses an LED light to display the time in a binary form. Some of the old types have 10 LED lights, but the newer models today have 72 or more LED lights, which are used to represent the numbers, of the binary sequence (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32).
