These days text messaging is the most used feature in cell phones. Most people have the thinking that text messages would cost them lesser than calling and so they tend to text message rather than call a person. The truth is text messages might be the main reason why your cell phone bills would be so high. Text messaging is addictive, once you start it becomes a little difficult to stop texting, and while the cost of a single text message is low, when you collectively look at the cost of your monthly text messages you might get a rude shock.

Most families with cell phones find it a little difficult when they first see the monthly bill of their cell phone plan, many families even impose restrictions on texting limits on their children not allowing them to text frequently, blocking their texting facilities or making them pay for their own text messages charges.

Therefore, it is extremely important that when you consider getting a cell plan you might want to check a few things to make sure that you do not end up paying a lot if you would be using texting feature extensively. The next time you change your cell plan check for the below mentioned things:

First of all, determine the extent of use of texting for yourself. Observe for a month and calculate how many text messages you need to send out every month and accordingly choose a plan. Most services provider would offer you unlimited texting plans but these can be expensive especially if you do not need to send out so many messages. There would be other cell plans that offer plans with cap of 300 or 500 text messages.

If you go for an unlimited cell plan you need to check if text messages for other networks would be free or not. Some dont and you might again end up paying a lot in this case if you send text messages outside your network.

Also check if the unlimited plan is restricted only to the numbers from your city or if you can send free text messages to any number in the country.

Most service providers also include picture or video messages as a part of their unlimited text message cell phone plan. Select one that provides this service since this would cut down on your expenses.

Always choose a cell phone plan that allows you to get an unlimited text message plan at any time and discontinue it at any time too. There might be a few plans in which the unlimited messaging would be a part of the cell plan and you would not be able to discontinue with it later even if you do not require it.
