Choosing A Handicapped Van

When you first begin shopping for a handicapped van, you are going to be overwhelmed by all of your choices that you have. This doesnt have to be an overwhelming task and if you take your time and decide exactly what you want before buying you will get what you want and have a stress free experience.

New or Used?

The first question you must ask is whether or not you would like to have a new or used van. In some cases there isnt an option and your budget will only allow for used. This is okay; you can still get a very reliable used handicapped van for a decent price.

If your budget will allow, a new van does have a lot to offer. For starters you can get exactly what you want, and this means features that you need as well as minor things such as color. You are in control of what you get this way. Keep in mind that you will pay a hefty price for these, but if money is no object, then that should not be a problem.

Mini or Full Sized?

You also need to decide whether or not you would rather have a mini van or a full sized handicapped van. There are vast differences so you should not make this decision lightly. A full size van will offer more room and comfort perfect for those who travel, but it will not be easy to park, and it will have a wheelchair lift instead of a ramp. For many this does not matter, but for a lot of people it most certainly does. A full sized handicapped van will also be more expensive.

A mini van on the other hand is going to have less room, but it will get better gas mileage and it will have a wheelchair ramp instead of a lift. It will cost less and be easier to drive through the city. This is going to be the best choice for economical reasons and this is one reason why many people choose mini vans over full sized handicapped vans.

The choice is totally up to you however, and you should choose based on your criteria, not everyone elses. You are the one who is going to have to use the handicapped van everyday.

Choosing a handicapped van does not have to be difficult if you are equipped with the right knowledge.
