Choosing 3d Archery Targets

By:

If you are an archery fan than you know that the difference between training with 2d and 3d targets is the difference between hitting and missing a target. If you practice with 2d targets than you are training on targets that do not give you an accurate representation of the targets you will be shooting at in real life. You will be shooting at targets that do not give you the depth perception and visualization that you can from a 3d target. There are a few important bits of information that you will need to know when you choose among your 3d targets.

First, you will need to decide what animals you will be shooting. Almost any animal is now available in a 3d target. You can choose from deer, squirrel, chicken, goose, turkey, pig, or quail. You also have the option of choosing large more exotic game like lion, tiger, elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, kudu, or antelope. Whether you intend to actually hunt the animal or not you can practice your archery skills on any animal. It is advised that you buy the same type of target that you will actually be hunting but it is always fun to purchase 3d targets that you will not be hunting.

Second, you will need to choose the consistency of the targets that you will be practicing with. You can choose the fill density of your 3d targets to give you a more or less real life shooting scenario. If you choose a fill density that best represents the actual density of the animal you will be hunting than you can accurately gauge your skill as you hone your archery skills. If you do not practice with the correct fill density than you may have bad perception of your skills and you may miss a great opportunity for a kill when hunting out in the wild. You may also wish to have a few targets that are a lesser density fill than actually required for fun target practice or for younger or less experienced archers. This will allow them to grow their accuracy skills before they move on to shooting for kill shots. A lesser density fill will allow the arrows to sink in deeper for better sticking power.

Third and finally, you will want to carefully choose the color and design of the target. The more life like the design of the target the more realistic you can practice your hunting and accuracy skills. This will ensure that you will have the absolute best opportunity to hone your skills and choose the best 3d target for your needs.
