Eid, is a three-day Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity," while Fir means "original nature," implying the restoration of one's best human composition. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the thirty days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The first day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month Shawwal.

Eid is a real celebration for every muslim and on eid day, all members of the family gather and offer eid prayer, wear new dresses and exchange gifts. The options for eid gifts are unlimited, however there are few choices which are usually preferable.

Money/Eidi
You can always fall back on this primitive gift if you feel all else are going to be a damper. Besides, your little cousins and the kids in your family will always be expecting their eidi. Hence you should keep some extra bucks as well as envelopes close to you. Put the money inside the envelopes, write the names of your recipients on each of them and hand over.
