Chocolate is the sin of gluttony par excellence, that manages to overcome men, women and all-aged children. Remedy for delusions, sweet mate during cold winter evenings, energetic snack for busy days or breakfast mate, chocolate is a sin that we yield to as often as not.
Saint Valentine"s day is almost here and in this occasion lovers will certainly buy some gluttonous chocolate sweet for their sweethearts; right to celebrate Valentine"s day with a cocoa taste, the 9th February begun the "Chocolando" In Love" -an event that took place in Lecce, in Saint Oronzo square- and that is the first real Italian festival for Master chocolate craftsmen.
The event, presented the 9th at 18.00 by the Culture and Marketing Assessor of Lecce, remained opened until the 12th of February; called to take part at the event some of the most talented and famous chocolate artisans of Italy; who made different solutions for cocoa lovers: hot chocolate, truffles, tablets, pralines, drages and obviously small chocolate sculptures of any shape. To the manifestation there were also many coffee-based and liqueur- based creations and glasses full of strawberries covered with dark chocolate.
A very important guest who participated at the event was Maestro Antonio Schettini from Merate (Lecco), who won the Guinness World Record with his more fantastic creation: the chocolate reproduction of Lavaredo "Tre Cime" mountains; even this year-like last year- the maestro offered to visitors a stand rich of chocolate lollipops, 70% dark chocolate tools covered with cocoa to make them look like old real tools covered with rust, truffles in more than twenty flavors and chocolate high heels shoes, ideal for a present to beloved.
To the event there were even artisans who presented chocolate-based foods for breakfast and desserts, like did Zamira Lufi, artisan from Padua (but with Nordic origins), who proposed the chocolate cakes typical of the Nordic tradition, as the Sachertorte and the apple and chocolate Strudel, the Belgian Waffle"s, hot croissant stuffed with chocolate cream, the pastry shells obviously stuffed with chocolate.
To this edition of Chocolando was added one day more, respect to the previous year (from three to four days) to propose a day dedicated to Teobroma lovers, the gods" food. Moreover to the event participated even the students from the tertiary college Columella of Lecce who had two stands in the oval area organized in S. Oronzo square, to show the visitors how you make chocolate; there were also tasting laboratories and information points on chocolate, workshops and ""for children- animation with nursery rhymes and free melted-chocolate make-up service for children.
