China's Led Standard Can Not Meet The Development Needs

The LED lighting which has a rapid development is facing constraints of the growing serious standard. In addition to the relevant technology about LED lighting, what we explore the most is how to establish effective standards for LED lighting products.

Previously, although the authorities have introduced relevant standards about LED lighting, but the LED lighting business, design agencies and some experts do not agree on these standards. They considered it to be "useless". The fatal weakness of its existence is that it is totally based on the traditional lighting standards and it did not work out truly effective product standards with features of LED lighting.

To get rid of the traditional thinking of lighting, we should establish practical product standards as soon as possible to boost the long-term development of the industry. LED is short for light-emitting diode. Its basic structure is an electroluminescent semiconductor material. Because this lighting technology is 60% energy saving compared to traditional lighting, it becomes more and more favorable by the market with the implementation of the national energy and environmental protection policies.

In order to promote energy conservation and the development of LED lighting, the ministries issued continuous national standards and industry standards about LED lighting. Six LED standards issued by the National Standardization Technical Committee Lighting plus two previously issued mandatory national standards have been gradually implemented in 2010.

In addition to the national and industry standards, Guangdong, Shenzhen, Shanxi, Jiangxi and other local governments have also launched a series of local standards to guide the development of LED lighting industry. Surprisingly, the market does not buy these standards. "These standards are not developed for LED lighting. They can not meet the development needs of the enterprises." a company official said in Guangdong Province.

Market and business are dissatisfies with a simple copy of the standard of the traditional lighting. An international lighting designer Xu Dongliang pointed out that it is not scientific that the LED lighting standards take in view of the traditional lighting. The traditional lamps are judged its quality by looking how many watts the lamp is. However the characteristics of LED light source are different from traditional light sources. The main features are energy-saving, fast response time, long life, technology and environmental protection.

Analysts of the industry say that as China's LED standards can not meet the Development needs, we are now in urgent to establish effective standards for LED lighting products to meet the needs of the market and business.
