Easter is upon us! Tis the season where gorging on chocolate isnt technically a sin so at The Devils Garden we think that this holiday should be celebrated in style and most of all, guilt-free!

Whatever family tradition you have in terms of giving out sweet treats we feel that chilli lovers shouldnt be penalised by going for the trend of over-sweet commercial milk chocolate Easter egg and focus on what they really want: gorgeous quality chocolate with a good kick! We have plenty of variety to choose from at the Devils Garden, Dartmoor Chilli Farm being one of our bestsellers for outstanding chilli chocolate.

Each 100g bar of chocolate supplied by Dartmoor Chilli Farm is made by Lessiter, a renowned chocolate manufacturer for over a century, using Dartmoor Chilli Farms crop of fresh chillies. Wonderful flavours are available amongst which orange, peppermint, coffee, dark and milk. Dartmoor Chilli Farm is one of the only suppliers we have found that also provide real chunks in their chocolate such as Whole Roasted Almonds, Ginger Pieces, Apricot or Fruit and Nuts which contains whole cranberries. This makes for a wonderful treat that usually gets eaten way too quickly!

Mexicans have been making Mole sauce for centuries, using it in savoury dishes rather than sweet. A lot of people are intrigued by this concept of chocolate and chillies mixed in with meat or vegetables but we tried Dartmoor Chilli Farms version, the Ancho & Chocolate Sauce as well as Chilli Pepper Petes Chilli Chocolate Sauce and although rather different, both work really well! The chilli prevents the sauce from being too rich and sickening while the quality dark chocolate using much less sugar than you would with milk ensures that the sauce works well in savoury food. So why not try and making a mole stew for your family this Easter? It is definitely something different for which Im sure you will be remembered!

One of our favourite chilli chocolate treat is The Chilli Pepper Companys Flaming Fireballs. These are probably the hottest we have in terms of chilli chocolate as each fireball is made up of quality milk chocolate and a luxurious (but HOT) Bhut Jolokia infused creamy praline centre (drooling yet?). The Flaming Fireballs instantly became a trademark of the Chilli Pepper Company so why not grab yourself a bag and see what friends and family think?

The Chilli Pepper Company are also the proud creators of a 72% dark chilli chocolate with a distinctive flavour of cayenne along with a medium pleasurable heat. The richness and thickness of the chocolate means that every square melts slowly in your mouth, leaving a wonderful flavour on your tongue long after you are finished with it. Tom Parker-Bowles, Food Writer for the Mail on Sunday says: "A fantastic taste experience, just this side of too hot makes this bar of dark chocolate a winner with all the family".

But now the Easter weekend is almost at an end and nostalgia already sets in Soon you will be back at the gym, eager for the year to fly by before you can indulge in an obscene amount of chilli chocolate again. Well to be honest, we kind of indulge ourselves every day of the year so dont feel like you have to torture yourself and have a chilli treat! If your tastebuds long for more chilli chocolate though but your jaws are aching from all the chewing just try The Chilli Pepper Companys Aztec drinking chocolate. It is just out of this world. Whether you use hot water or milk (which to us is way more luxurious) these chocolate flakes melt within seconds, turning into a wonderfully comforting creamy drink with hints of cinnamon and a good kick of chilli!

Easter is a great excuse to misbehave and have a few (or in our case, a LOT) chilli chocolates, after all, we only live once!
