Children's Halloween Parties: Parents, The Key To The Success Of Your Children's Halloween Party

By:

If you are hosting a children's Halloween party, especially one for young children, it makes a great deal of sense to work and cultivate your relationships with parents and other responsible adults.

Just as a children's Halloween party brings children together for fun and games and the chance to socialize and build friendships, so too with their parents. So take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to build and strengthen your network with the other responsible grownups in the lives of your children and their playmates and use it to take some of the burden off of your shoulders.

Parents are already involved just by the fact that they are their children's parents and they must say yes to your invitation before their child attends your party.

Like all relationships, the key to success is good and clear communication and a willingness to reciprocate. Engage them informally early on once you decide to host a children's Halloween party by telling them what you are planning and thinking.

Parents of the other children on your guest list can be a great source of information. They can be a sounding board for ideas as you put the party together. They can tell you about their experiences: what has worked, what hasn't, where to obtain resources, etc.

People like to be asked for advice. When you engage them early on they are more likely to feel that they have an investment in the success of your party.

Be sure to talk to them before setting your date. You don't want to go to the time and trouble of planning a children's Halloween party only to find out that your child's best friends are not available at the time and date of your event.

You want to communicate clearly to make sure that the children arrive by your party's start-time, and equally if not more important, that their children are picked up on time.

But if you enlist their help (and return the favor when they need a hand), children's parents, older siblings, grandparents, and other interested and responsible adults can help you pull the party together and provide very welcome supervision during the festivities.

They can help during all phases including decoration, supervision during the event and clean up afterwards which spreads the burden and builds a sense of community.

Your party can be a way to pull in a Mom new to the area by introducing her to you and your network of interested grownups.

Parents that don't know you well will probably welcome the chance to get more familiar with you and see you in action. And, of course, you strengthen a bond you already have with adults you already know well.

When you nurture your relationship with other children's parents, you create an invaluable network that will serve you well for much more than just your children's Halloween party.
