Anxiety disorder children is not so uncommon, since many will experience some type of typical fears and anxieties during their lifetimes. These may occur while being nervous about changing schools or even before taking a required test. Most often such fears do not escalate into irrationality or the development of panic attacks or panic disorders. However, some children may show various panic disorder symptoms for various other reasons.

Protecting children is essential, however it is not possible to prevent everything that may interfere with their life and growing processes. Some children suffer from the very same ailments of some adults when it involves panic disorders. There are various ways of finding a generalized panic disorder in children, since they may worry and fret continually about their everyday life events such as school or things that go on within their home. For instance, most children strive for perfection and can be terrible hard on themselves, they may redo various tasks to get them right and they most often seek the constant reassurance and approval of others daily.

Children can suffer from OCD or obsessive compulsive disorder, which is a form of anxiety or panic disorder. OCD can cause obsessive thoughts that the child cannot seem to get rid of, some of them may have strong urges to repeat their ritualistic routines and behaviors while trying to ease the sensations that accompany anxiety disorders. Although, most often a child may be diagnosed for OCD by the age of ten, it is a condition that is apparent in children as young as two or three years of age. Children with anxiety disorders may be noticeable by the constant and excessive washing of hands, the feelings of terror associated with an accident or something they may do wrong as well as counting or rechecking various items excessively to aid in reducing any unwelcome thoughts or occurrences.

Anxiety disorders or panic disorders may be diagnosed for those children who suffer from at least two unexpected panic attack symptoms that are followed by a months worth of worrying about it happening to them again. Although, it may not be diagnosed for younger children a diagnosis is possible during their adolescent period. Children with panic disorders may display various types of phobias such as the continual irrational fear of some particular place, circumstance and even objects.

Although, such fears of animals, the dark and storms may go away as the child grows, if a child suffers from continual fear that interferes with their life for at least six months, the child is suffering from a phobia. These symptoms may include stomach upset, headaches, inability to eat or sleep well, nightmares, and a sense of being emotionally numb as well as freezing in place when confronted with fears or even temper tantrums and becoming overly clingy. Other aspects that can influence the anxiety disorders of children include the death of a parent, a physical assault or witnessing a traumatic event.

Keep in mind that even though a child may not be able to verbalize the problems it is recommendable to see their family pediatrician to aid in diagnosing and treating anxiety disorders in children.
