Chic Alternatives To Traditional Office Wear

By:

Alternatives to office wear depend on the type of environment you work in, this also determines the different approaches to what you might want to wear. An increasing number of workplaces are switching back to the everything formal when it comes to their dress code. This doesn't mean that business casual or even casual for that matter is a no-go zone.

For the Formal Worker

High powered positions in the financial industry, or in any other corporate sector require that one works in suits most of the time, this culture has little room for flexibility when it comes to breaking the trend. The important thing is to have a basic understanding of the fashion trends forming in the horizon.

To start with, experiment with colors in your primary garments i.e. purchase a peak lapel suit and pair with lilac, bright yellow or pink and a power tie. Strive to dress with purpose, business so to say and success will follow. Sloppy appearance in the business world is a sure sign of unprofessionalism and doing this could hurt your credibility.

Accessorize

Accessorize your look accordingly. Invest in contrast collared and or french cuffed shirts and pair them with cufflinks that match your personal style and flair. Footwear should be comfortable, well made and expensive. Footwear is often under looked in business wardrobe.

When buying things for your wardrobe, go for high quality, brand footwear and never substitutes. Quality shoes maintain their look even after several years of use if maintained properly and they promote better posture as well as improving overall image of the wearer.

A formal gentleman should go for a wider but more vibrant color palette, buy accessories, as well as learning about and developing interest in personal designers and design establishments, doing this pays dividends. Also, try reading good mens fashion magazines that help inform your taste and awareness.

Business Casual

It's popular belief that Khakis tend to be the de facto material of choice when it comes to men who work in quasi-casual environment, the truth points to the contrary.

Pants form an important part of a man's wardrobe and in this case khakis are a concession or a compromise in cases where dress pants would be comfortable and stylish. The tip to a vibrant image, whether casual or business is to dress a notch higher than the status quo.

This could mean putting a little extra effort with great rewards. Replace khaki pants with a few new pairs custom tailored to your body and shape by a pro wardrobe consultant or reputable menswear store.

If you have a shape that allows for flat front pants, then wearing them with some pinstripe makes for an excellent and catchy style. Pinstripes are trendy and eye catching. If you get a cut that fits nice, don't hesitate to purchase several pairs. You'll be glad you did so.

If your work environment is more casual in nature, leave sporty footwear aside and invest in some good pairs of high quality shoes. There are plenty of hybrid styles that suit both formal and semi-casual needs and this investment in your comfort is worth every penny.

Add on a nice pair of dresser, nice fitting jeans that match your work environment. If you're marketer try going for an aggressive denim tint and bolder shirts.

Semi Tapered Shirts

Rather than going baggy, try sport shirt (fitted) and drop tie. Neckties look nice when framed with a suitcoat and especially when you're not wearing a blazer or jacket, in this case, leave your necktie at home.

Fitted shirts like ones being offered by modern designers will frame your silhouette in a much better manner if you're average build. Men with bigger frames are better of buying tapered shirts instead of truly fitted cuts.

If the majority of your colleagues are wearing department store khakis, then an ill-fitting shirt and polyester tie is the best fit that will make you look unique.
