Chevrolet Used Cars- The Cobalt As A Used Vehicle

By:

Chevrolet used cars like there Cobalt, was brought in to production back in 2005 and was only sold in Canada until 2007 when General Motors decided to launch it in the States. This compact sedan was a redesign of the popular Chevrolet Cavalier and renamed as the Cobalt. This vehicle is much cheaper than a Honda Civic, or a Toyota Corolla, its more likely to compete against the likes of the Kia Spectre and the Hyundai Elantra. My research will be on the Chevrolet Cobalt as a used vehicle to look at.

The Cobalt truly is a basic compact sedan but does offer some standard features like power doors, power windows, electric rear defogger, air conditioning, CD player, trip computer, and the front seats are adjustable to your height by using a lever. The dashboard is easy to read during the day time, but felt it lacked enough light to see all engine systems at night time. The stereo system is a Pioneer and a sunroof is optional as well. This vehicle as you would suspect is not that roomy when it comes to space in the cabin.

I have different fuel statistics for the years from 2005 to 2006. In 2005 the base model had a fuel rating of 9.9-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.6-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The Cobalt SS (automatic transmission) had a fuel rating of 9.5-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.1-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The SS manual transmission had a fuel rating of 10.2-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.4-litres per 100km, for highway. In 2006 the automatic transmission had a fuel rating of 9.4-litres, per 100km for city driving and 6.3-litres, per 100km for highway driving.

There are several different engine sizes for the Cobalt from 2005 to 2008. In 2005 the base model had a four cylinder, 2.2 litre engine and this produced 145 horsepower. The Cobalt SS had a four cylinder, 2.2-litre, super charged engine and this produced 205 horsepower. In 2007 the base model had two choices, a 2.2-litre engine which had 152 horsepower or a 2.4-litre engine which produced 172 horsepower. In 2008 the Cobalt now offered a 2.0-litre, turbocharged engine and this produced 260 horsepower.

Lets look at the pros and cons of the Chevrolet Cobalt as used vehicle:

1-There is a minor problem with the roll pin breaking in the manual transmission.
2-There have been reports in some web forums that there is wind noise in their power windows.
3-I could not find any crash tests results on the Cobalt.

I hope this helps when looking at Chevrolet used cars like the Cobalt.
