Chevrolet Sail Hatchback And Sedan Launched

General Motors India has unveiled its two products, namely the Chevrolet Sail premium hatchback and the Chevrolet MPV Concept at the 11th edition of the Delhi Auto Expo. "The two products have been tailored for the local market conditions and the need of local consumers for economical, user-friendly personal transportation," said Lowell Paddock, president and managing director, GM Motors India. Reports say Chevrolet is aiming to place the car into the small hatch market sector as a strong competitor, offering plenty of standard equipment throughout the range. The hatchback would be launched with a 1.2 litre petrol engine. It would be made available later with a 1.3 diesel engine. GM is also showing the all-new Tavera Neo3 and Captiva. The Chevrolet portfolio in India includes the Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Beat and Chevrolet Tavera.

More stylish and roomy that is the new look of 2011 Chevrolet Sail in the terms of features. Inside and outside bring wonderful sense to look at. The LED turn indicators have been provided underneath the outside mirrors. Sail comes in petrol and diesel both variants which is one of the good factor. The Sail hatchback will go on sale later this year. The Chevrolet Sail is inspired from the Opel Corsa platform. The Chevrolet Sail is longer and wider than the current Aveo model, giving it a spacious interior and cargo volume that is among best in its class.

Sporty look of the car is achieved by having the seats with the dual tone coverings. Chevrolet's 'Sail series' of Sedans and hatchbacks will be a perfect fit for the C segment sedan and B+ segment hatchback markets. The dynamic detailing includes large, curved, clear-glass headlamps and fog lamps that project like spotlights from the lower part of the bumper. Remote boot and fuel filler along with rear defogger are also available in Chevrolet Sail. The new interior style of the Chevrolet Sail is much better than its outgoing predecessor. The steering wheel is oversized and the column stalks remain very dated, but the rest of the interior has much-improved quality.

The central fuel tank, a short front and rear suspension, and arch-shaped doors maximizes interior space for five people.Both Chevrolet Sail Hatchback and Chevrolet Sail Notchback are upgraded with S-TEC versions of 1.2 litre and 1.4 liter engines. Sail is powered by GMs smartech engine. The 1.2 liter engine produces maximum power of 53k W/L and also a respectable torque. It achieves the speed of 100Kmph in just 12.5secs. While the 1.4 liter engine produces maximum power of 54.3 KW/L and achieves the speed of 100kmph in just 11.8secs. The Chevrolet Sail is available in six exterior colors of Crescent Silver, Jasmine White, Sky Blue, Coral Red, Amber Orange and Starfish Blue. The Chevrolet New Sail comes with a five-speed manual transmission.

This entire product is developed by GM without anything from its Chinese partner and this helped in bringing down the cost of the car as well. Every single element of the vehicle has been created with utmost treatment to produce an outstanding final image.
