Check Overhead Crane Parts Everyday

By:

All work sites have their own particular sets of safety challenges, and with those challenges come certain worker safety guidelines. When cranes are being used on a construction site it is important to make sure that all overhead crane parts are in perfect working order so as to prevent accidents and injuries on the work site. All cranes must be inspected at the start of each work day for indications of wear which might lead to a malfunction.

It is important to make sure that all parts are in good working order before the machine is put into operation and if not cease use of the machine. Order the necessary replacement components as soon as possible because it is better to lose a day of work than to have an accident because of a worn out component. It is also crucial to make sure that the machine is right for a particular job before work commences.

All cranes are different and have different capacities and capabilities. It is important to make sure that the machine is able to do the job it is called upon to perform before the job begins. Cranes must have the proper lift level, area movement, and hoisting ability in order to perform properly and safely.

The machine operator must have a signal person with whom the operator is in constant communication. It is best to have only one signal person on the job at any given moment. If more than one signal person is giving directions to the operator the operator could become confused.

When an operator is confused or distracted he is liable to cause an accident that could result in injury or even death. Once the lift operation commences all workers in the lift area must be warned and no one can be allowed to stand under the hoist. This of course is common sense but there are times when some workers become distracted and end up in a danger zone.

Overhead crane parts must be inspected each day before work commences because work place safety must be the number one concern. Cranes should have the proper capability and capacity to match the job at hand. Many safety rules are based on common sense such as the rule against standing under a hoist. However, machinery must also be kept in good working order in order to protect the workers from injury and even death.
