Charlotte Tickets - Celebrate New Year's Eve With Exciting Events In Charlotte!

By: Brent Warnken

Where will you be when the ball drops at midnight this Dec. 31? Sure, you could attend the traditional New Year's Eve parties leading up to Dec. 31, but why would you want to when Charlotte is hosting so many great sports, live music and comedy events right before and on the holiday? Charlotte, North Carolina is a colorful city with Southern charm that offers events throughout the year, but there is no better way to say goodbye to 2009 than by attending a live music, comedy or sporting event! For a list of the events coming to Charlotte, check online for Charlotte tickets because New Year's Eve is rapidly approaching!

The Avett Brothers will be returning to their North Carolina roots on Dec. 31, and you won't want to miss their rollicking New Year's Eve show at the Asheville Civic Center. Scott (vocals, banjo) and Seth (vocals, guitar) Avett began playing their brand of rock music, steeped in traditional bluegrass and folk, in their native Greenville, North Carolina, soon recruiting upright bassist/vocalist Bob Crawford to join the lineup.

The group released Country Wars in 2002, and a string of both live and studio releases followed. The Avett Brothers landed on the Billboard charts for the first time with Emotionalism in 2007. The Avett Brothers signed with American Recordings on the strength of the album, and the band's major label debut, I and Love and You, arrived earlier this year. Hear the band play songs from their latest effort when the Avett Brothers ring in the New Year, southern style!

There is no better way to beat the holiday blues than by seeing comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham. Dunham will be bringing his crazy cast of characters to Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte on Dec. 31, and you won't want to pass up your chance to see his hilarious, one-of-a-kind show live! Among Dunham's comedic characters are Bubba J, a redneck obsessed with (what else?) NASCAR, cranky retiree Walter and Jose Jalapeno, a south-of-the-border import that brings on the spice.

Although Johnny Carson recognized Dunham's talent back in 1990, the standup comedian really hit the big time when Comedy Central aired his first special in 2006. Since then, Dunham has appeared on countless specials and even his very own show, although the best way to enjoy his ventriloquism-meets-comedy is to see a live show, such as when he stops in Charlotte on New Years.

For those who have unbreakable New Year's Eve plans, Bojangles Coliseum is hosting WWE SmackDown ECW on Dec. 28. Watching all the action going on inside the ring on television just doesn't compare to seeing it in person, and WWE tickets to see WWE SmackDown ECW in Charlotte will be selling quickly due to the athleticism, entertainment, storylines, music, comedy and overall experience of attending a World Wrestling Entertainment event. Whether SmackDown superstars like Undertaker or Chris Jericho or ECW greats like The Hurricane or Tommy Dreamer are in the ring, this event is sure to be one of the most action-packed to hit Charlotte before the end of 2009.
